Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
The Field Assistant is normally supervised by the Field Officer/Associate and performs a variety of functions related to Field activities within the office. The supervisor exercises close control and regular review of the work processes and provides regular advice and guidance.
The incumbent keeps frequent internal contacts with staff members in the same duty station to exchange information and with the external contacts generally with officials of national and international institutions, leaders of the refugee community, local population and/or Implementing Partners (IPs) on routine subject matters under the direction of the supervisor.

Under the direct supervision of the Field Officer, the Field Assistant (G4) in Sub Office Mogadishu will support the implementation of field activities related to the protection and assistance of refugees, IDPs, and returnees, with a special focus on voluntary repatriation (VolRep) processes.
Experience in field operations with UNHCR, NGOs, or the United Nations is preferred. Candidate should have worked with refugees, IDPs, or returnees in complex humanitarian settings and have knowledge of voluntary repatriation processes. Desired skills include training in refugee protection, familiarity with UNHCR's ProGres system, logistics coordination, and fluency in English and Somali. Strong data collection, communication, and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
