Telesom Company is looking for an experienced Fiber Optic Engineer with Network Administration skills at Berbera. He will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks, as well as managing and administering network systems. The role combines technical expertise in fiber optics with fundamental network administration skills for operation of both fiber infrastructure and network services.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Install fiber optic cables in various environments, including underground, aerial, and in-building settings.
Terminate fiber optic cables with connectors and prepare them for connection to network equipment or patch panels.
Perform fiber splicing using fusion splicing methods to connect fiber optic cables, ensuring minimal signal loss and high-quality connections.
Utilize Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), optical power meters, and light sources to test and verify fiber optic connections, ensuring they meet performance standards.
Identify and resolve issues related to fiber optic cables and connections, such as signal loss, connectivity problems, and equipment malfunctions.
Record test results and document any issues or corrective actions taken during troubleshooting.
Conduct regular maintenance of fiber optic systems, including inspections and cleaning, to ensure continued performance and reliability.
Repair damaged fiber optic cables and components, replacing or splicing as necessary to restore functionality.
Manage and organize fiber optic cables using cable management tools and techniques.
Properly label cables, connectors, and panels for easy identification and future maintenance.
Install and configure fiber optic patch panels in network racks or cabinets, ensuring proper alignment and secure connections.
Install and manage Optical Distribution Frames, routing and securing fiber optic cables within the frame.
