We are looking for you to join our team in Somalia as a Landscaping and Groundskeeping Project Lead.

The ideal candidate shall be responsible for overseeing all activities related to the implementation of the grounds maintenance contract across multiple operational locations. This includes managing a team, ensuring adherence to maintenance schedules, conducting inspections, and providing detailed reports to clients and stakeholders. The role requires ensuring that all grounds maintenance tasks are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety, while also meeting client expectations and contract requirements.

Job responsibilities.

  • Oversee the implementation of grounds maintenance activities across all operational locations, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
  • Conduct quarterly customer satisfaction surveys, analyze feedback, and implement corrective actions to address any issues or concerns raised by clients.
  • Submit Monthly Task Order Summary Reports, Inventory and Consumption Reports, and
  • Grounds Maintenance Service Reports to the client and stakeholders.
  • Attend Performance Review Meetings with clients and stakeholders, providing comprehensive status updates on the contract, and addressing any issues or requests.
  • Record daily attendance of all grounds maintenance staff, ensuring proper staffing levels and addressing any attendance issues promptly.
  • Develop and maintain a regular grounds maintenance schedule for all camps, reviewing and adjusting the schedule monthly in collaboration with the client.
  • Perform regular grounds inspections, identifying and addressing issues.
  • Provide feedback to clients after completing tasks, addressing any additional concerns or requests, and ensuring client satisfaction with the work performed.
  • Manage, train, and supervise a team of grounds maintenance staff across multiple country sector locations, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of all assigned properties, pavements, and roadways.
  • Maintain grassed areas, trees, shrubs, and other planted areas, ensuring proper watering, cutting, trimming, and disposal to keep the camp area neat and presentable.
  • During inclement weather, ensure that teams keep walkways and building entrances clear of mud, sand, or debris, and that drains and gullies are free-flowing.
  • Oversee the procurement, inventory, and proper use of materials and equipment.
  • Monitor and manage the budget allocated for grounds maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work is executed in compliance with industry best practices in terms of quality, finishing, workmanship, occupational safety and health and UN environmental standards.
  • Identify opportunities for improving grounds maintenance processes and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, stakeholders, and team members to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and client interactions for reporting and audit purposes.
  • Ensure plant nurseries are established and maintained at each location.

Qualifications and Education Requirements.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of cumulative experience in delivering Grounds Maintenance services or Landscaping.
  • University degree in Horticulture, Agriculture or related.
  • Studies, or at a minimum formal landscaping qualifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
